Remodel vs Retrofit?

A plumbing remodel involves reconfiguration and updates to your plumbing layout, water lines and drains. Old pipes get removed and replaced with new ones. A remodel is much more invasive and typically requires opening walls or floors to access the plumbing for rerouting.

A plumbing retrofit refers to the modification or upgrade of the current plumbing system and does not involve a full plumbing system replacement. Often it can be as simple as adding a new water line or drain to accommodate modern appliances such as a dishwasher or fridge with a water dispenser. Walls or floors may have to be opened for access but are not needed most of the time.

The type of service you request is based on your budget, timeline and renovation goals will dictate which of these services you require. A plumbing retrofit typically will cost less than a plumbing remodel.
